The group decision-making process is very similar to the individual process, except you add the variable element of---other people!!! So, some key adjustments to the process must be made in order for the group to accomplish its goals.
Define: Define the purpose of group BEFORE the first meeting. Person or persons responsible for calling the meeting and forming the group define the purpose.
Engage: Engage the group's joint interest by having members share their understanding of why they are there and what they feel they can contribute.
Create: Create collaboration by expanding the number of possible solutions by using brainstorming with special group guidelines.
Integrate: Integrate and merge similar ideas and sort into categories, prioritize (dots and flags or other option-reducing methods).
Discern: Discern and select the options for a solution according to workplace considerations and company support to carry out each option. Vote to make a final selection.
Embark: Embark by making a step-by-step plan; assigning tasks with completion dates and a follow-up chart.
